DIY Burlap Front Door Wreath With Accent Ribbon

How to make front door wreath. In our tutorial we'll show you an easy way to craft a stylish wire door wreath with accent ribbon. This cute DIY door wreath will become a gorgeous festive home decor idea or a great present for any occasion as well!

Here’s what we’ll need:

  • around 7 meters of burlap;
  • a selection of ribbons;
  • 50 cm of steel wire or a wire coat hanger.

Take the wire. If you’re using the coat hanger, unwind the top with the pliers or just cut it off with the wire cutters.

We’ve precut linen strips but you might use ready-made burlap.

With pliers bend one end of the wire to form a kind of a stopper. It’ll prevent the ribbon from sliding off.

The other end makes a kind of a needle.Thread the burlap on.

Move the other end aside. You might hook the “stopper” end of the wire to the table edge for convenience.

Keep threading the burlap making accordion style folds. If your burlap is double-sided, twist it here and now.

We want the burlap folds to make such nice full ruffles when gathered.

So, let’s add another linen strip. Twist, fold and thread onto the wire.

Once done, bend the wire into a circular or heart shape.

Twist the wire ends together.

You might need to use the pliers if the wire is not flexible enough, but in our case it’s manageable with the bare hands.

With the excess end of the wire base form a loop. Twist the end of the wire around the loop base.

You could hang the wreath on the hook just like this. But we’ve decided to tie a ribbon to style up the wreath.
We’ve pre-cut some 10-15 cm pieces of ribbon with the V-shape ends.

Now time to embellish the wreath.

We’ll need some craft wire to fix the ribbons to the wreath. Layer the ribbons place the wire in the center shape the bow and secure with three-five twists.

The bows like this take a minute to make and look really nice.

Decide where you want your bow to be. Wrap the wire ends around the wreath base.

Fix with a couple of twists. Do the same with the rest of the bows.

Once done, turn your wreath upside down and trim the excess wire ends.

This  front door wreath took less than an hour to make. It will be a great present for any occasion as well.
